Twitch Rolls Out ‘Raids’ Feature To Help Creators Support One Another’s Channels

Twitch has officially gone live with a new feature that the streaming platform first announced at its third annual TwitchCon gathering last month.

Raids, an unofficial practice coined by creators in which they send their viewers to a fellow streamer’s broadcast, has formally become a part of the Twitch ethos. While the new Raids feature began rolling out today, it will be available for all users in two weeks.

Now, by simply typing ‘/raid’ in a chat — followed by the name of a broadcaster that a user wants his or her viewers to Raid — a message with a countdown timer will appear. As soon as the countdown concludes, everyone who clicked on the link will automatically be sent to the designated channel. “The raided channel will be hosted automatically as well,” Twitch noted in a blog post

, “so no more manual work is required.”

Furthermore, creators and moderators will be able to see a list of channels that have recently Raided them in settings, as well as choose which channels can have the ability to Raid them.
