Digital production studio New Form, which is behind noted series like Miss 2059 and Mr. Student Body President, debuted three brand new series pilots at the 2017 Austin Film Festival over the weekend.
The first project, created by and starring former BuzzFeed staffer-turned-comedy vlogger Gaby Dunn, is titled Love Me Do. The dark comedy follows a young woman whose alcoholic father moves in with her fresh after a stint at rehab. Small Talk, created by screenwriter Becca Gleason, is about two exes who meet by chance after years. Finally, Press Start — created by Dave Child and Evan Beamer — is about a gamer at a dead-end job who discovers that his life is literally a video game.
Love Me Do also stars Julie Lake (Orange is the New Black) and Carlos Alazraqui (Reno 911!), while Small Talk will feature Nicholas Braun (How To Be Single) and Georgie Flores (Famous In Love). Press Start stars Darrell Britt-Gibson (You’re The Worst).
“At New Form, we validate our creative choices and build communities through data-informed testing to develop and incubate content for specific online audiences, like these three pilots,” said New Form CEO Kathleen Grace in a statement. “It’s exciting to develop and produce content that truly represents our audiences and their diverse perspectives.“
