Check Out Some Photos From #YouTubeBlack’s First-Ever FanFest Event

On Tuesday, YouTube hosted its first-ever stateside FanFest event — where a slew of top creators gathered for meet-and-greets and live performances — at Howard University in celebration of its 150th anniversary.

The event, organized by #YouTubeBlack — an internal effort to support the platform’s black creator community — featured performances from Alonzo Lerone, Amber’s Closet, Dainá: Dormtainment, Miles Jai, RandomStructureTV, Spoken Reasons, Summerella, Tré Melvin, TPindell, VanJess, and Daniel Caesar.

And following the FanFest , #YouTubeBlack hosted another creator summit — this time in Washington, D.C. — where bold-faced mentors from the worlds of entertainment, business, and politics provided guidance and inspiration to black digital creators. Participants included Issa Rae

, Common, Valerie Jarrett, Iyanla Vanzant, Rev Run, Amanda Seales, and Cory Booker. YouTube’s inaugural #YouTubeBlack summit, held in April 2016, featured Russell Simmons, Wanda Sykes, DeRay Mckesson, Nate Parker, Lisa Price, and Mara Brock Akil.
