Ellen DeGeneres has just made YouTube history as the first talk-show host to to surpass 10 billion lifetime views.
The YouTube destination for DeGeneres’ eponymous talk show, TheEllenShow, counts 20 million subscribers to date and marks the 16th most-viewed channel on all of YouTube, the video giant says. These massive numbers are in part due to the fact that DeGeneres often features viral video stars — such as Sophia Grace (122 million views), Psy (58 million views), and the duo behind “Damn, Daniel” (36 million views) — on her show.
DeGeneres also recently launched an ad-supported original YouTube series called Ellen’s Show Me More Show, featuring games and celebrity guests.
The talk-show host trailing DeGeneres by the narrowest margin is Jimmy Fallon, whose Tonight Show channel has clocked 7.9 billion views to date, followed by Jimmy Kimmel, whose Jimmy Kimmel Live channel has amassed 5 billion views.
Meanwhile, other talk-show hosts to have surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube include: James Corden’s The Late Late Show, which has 3.4 billion YouTube views; Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show, which has 2.1 billion views; and John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight, which has 1.3 billion views.
