7th Annual Streamy Awards Live Stream Scores One Million Unique Viewers On Twitter

The 7th Annual Streamy Awards ended up being a big night for several preeminent members of the online video community, and Twitter was a big winner right alongside them.

The social media platform, which served as the event’s official broadcast partner, ultimately picked up one million unique viewers on its Streamys live stream, more than doubling the audience that tuned in for last year’s bash. VOD clips on Twitter from this year’s Streamy Awards and the Streamys Red Carpet also garnered over 2.1 million views within the 24 hours following the show.

Twitter’s live stream included the entirety of the two-hour Streamy Awards ceremony, during which 17 awards were handed out to outstanding online video stars. The winners of the two fan-voted categories — Creators of the Year Dolan Twins and Show of the Year Sugar Pine 7 — both factored into some of the night’s most-discussed moments. Sugar Pine 7‘s victory ended up as the most-tweeted development of the evening, while Elijah Daniel and Christine Sydelko‘s guest acceptance during The Dolan Twins’ win served as Twitter’s most-viewed VOD clip from the show.

The biggest star of this year’s Streamys, however, may have been Jon Cozart

. The event’s host made waves with incisive jokes that skewered some of the creators in attendance. A musical portion of his monologue has emerged as the most-viewed YouTube clip from the show, with close to two million hits. In total, YouTube videos related to the 7th Streamys were watched more than 5.5 million times within 48 hours following the show.

But the entire ceremony wasn’t only comprised of self-deprecating commentary. On a more serious note, some of the most recognizable faces from the online video world including Gigi Gorgeous, GloZell, Meghan Tonjes, and Zach Anner stood up to talk about the online video community’s inclusivity and what being a part of this community has meant to them. They each declared their appreciation for their fans and viewers, who have offered unwavering love and support through the journeys they’ve shared.

You can follow the Streamy Awards on Twitter to stay up to speed and head to the Streamys YouTube channel to get a look at more clips from the show. And (as always) in full disclosure, the Streamy Awards is produced by Tubefilter and dick clark productions.
