Gunpowder & Sky Signs Distribution Deal For 9 YouTube Red Originals

Indie digital production and distribution studio Gunpowder & Sky has announced a wide-ranging pact with YouTube Red to release nine of its original films and series across multiple platforms and global territories.

The projects that Gunpowder & Sky will distribute — which were previously only available via YouTube’s $10 monthly subscription service — include: Escape The Night, Prank Academy, Sing It!, MatPat’s Game Lab, Ghostmates, Jingle Ballin’, Fight Of The Living Dead, The Amazing Tour is Not On Fire, and Alexander IRL. Gunpowder & Sky, which formed a sales and distribution arm last year following its acquisition of FilmBuff, has already served as the international distributor for YouTube Red’s A Trip To Unicorn Island and Lazer Team.

All of the above titles will remain on YouTube Red. But, given that the service is currently only available in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and Korea, Gunpowder & Sky will serve as an international distributor across myriad linear television channels, ad-based platforms, SVOD services, transactional VOD services, and more.

“Our mission from the start was to not only create our own IP, but to also partner with progressive companies like YouTube to help distribute their content on multiple platforms,” said Gunpowder & Sky’s co-founder and president Floris Bauer of the deal.
