Disney XD Posts Full Episode Of Its ‘DuckTales’ Reboot On YouTube

TV channels have occasionally posted full episodes of new shows and seasons to platforms like YouTube and Twitch, and the latest broadcast to adopt that strategy is Disney XD. The cable hub has shared the first episode of its reboot of the classic 80s cartoon DuckTales on YouTube two days after the show’s TV premiere.

DuckTales, which won hearts in the 80s thanks to its colorful characters and its earworm of a theme song, left a significant cultural impact on the generation that grew up with it, and those viewers use YouTube as the vehicle for their nostalgia. A ten-year-old video of said theme song, for example, has received more than 4.8 million views on its own. Many creators have pitched in their own tributes as well; these two are my personal favorites.

Given that audience, YouTube was a natural place for Disney XD to go to promote its new reboot. In the hours after the premiere episode arrived online, thousands of fans flocked to it, praising it for its sharp animation and its refreshing charm. If you haven’t yet witnessed the new adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his three grandnephews, you can check it out below. At 44 minutes, its a gargantuan episode by cartoon standards.

TV broadcasters rarely post more than one episode from any particular show in this manner, but additional content from DuckTales is sure to show up on the Disney XD YouTube channel, which has more than 500,000 subscribers. Meanwhile, on the tube, new installments of DuckTales will arrive on Saturdays.
