Daenerys Targaryen Is The Most Popular ‘Game Of Thrones’ Character…On YouTube

Across six seasons of Game of Thrones, residents of the continent of Essos have learned it is unwise to mess with Daenerys Targaryen. She is a strong candidate to claim the Iron Throne, but she’s already become the queen of a digital domain: YouTube.

Adweek has shared data from the video site that reveals the Mother of Dragons as the most-viewed Game of Thrones character on YouTube.

To assemble its ranking, YouTube counted the views on videos related to specific Game of Thrones figures. The woman known as “Khaleesi” came in first, with Jon Snow in second and Tyrion Lannister in third. Daenerys’ house, Targaryen, itself emerged as the most-viewed Game of Thrones family, ahead of the Lannisters, Starks, and Baratheons.

YouTube also sorted its Game of Thrones data by episode and found that the season six finale, “The Winds of Winter,” catalyzed more views on Game of Thrones

-related videos than any other installment of HBO’s fantasy franchise to date. The season three episode “The Rains of Castamere,” which featured the infamous Red Wedding, came in second, will season six’s epic “Battle of the Bastards” placing third. Many of the views related to these episodes are generated by reaction videos such as this one:

The main takeaway from this chart is that Game of Thrones-related YouTube views are trending upward. Season seven will surely result in an even bigger explosion of activity, some of which has already begun. Look for more reactions to the show to arrive once its seventh season begins on July 16.
