Amazon’s ‘Transparent’ Will Premiere On TV On August 9

Since its premiere in 2014, Transparent has been one of Amazon’s most revered original programs, and now, cable subscribers who haven’t yet watched the show will get a chance to see it. The first two seasons of the dramedy will air across eight consecutive Wednesdays on SundanceTV, beginning on August 9.

Each weekly block of Transparent will air beginning at 10 PM ET on SundanceTV. The cable channel will work through the show’s first two seasons chronologically, airing three episodes each Wednesday before reaching a two-episode conclusion on September 20. Along the way, viewers — perhaps those who have always been interested in Transparent, but lack Amazon Prime subscriptions — will be able to follow the respective journeys of trans woman Maura Pfefferman (Jeffrey Tambor

), her ex-wife, and her three adult children.

Transparent’s trip to SundanceTV is Amazon’s latest attempt to show off its acclaimed original series to a larger audience. Back in 2015, it made the show free for one day only, a strategy it would later utilize for several of its other programs.

The fourth season of Transparent received the green light back in May and got its own teaser two weeks later. While an exact premiere date has not yet been set, the new episodes are expected to arrive sometime in 2017.
