Three-Month-Old YouTube TV Expands To 10 Additional Markets

Three-month-old YouTube TV is expanding into 10 new markets, CEO Susan Wojcicki announced at VidCon.

The skinny bundle service, which launched in five markets last April, will soon be available in: Dallas-Fort Worth, Washington, D.C., Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix, Detroit, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne, and Charlotte. The collection of network, cable, and digital channels — which is priced at $35 per month — is already available in Los Angeles, the Bay Area, New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia.

“We see more millennials using YouTube TV than any other generational group,” Wojcicki wrote in a blog post. “Now, with this expansion, millions more people will be able to stream their favorite live sports and must-see shows from top broadcast and cable networks.”

Last month, YouTube TV added AMC Networks channels — which includes AMC, BBC America, IFC, Sundance TV, and We TV — to its lineup, bringing its total offer to 46 channels. Some notable holes remain, however — including channels from the likes of Turner (CNN, TNT); Viacom (BET, MTV); Scripps Networks Interactive (Food Network, HGTV), and Discovery Communications (The Discovery Channel, TLC).
