Live.me Adds Ability To Record Vine-Like Clips, Revamps Profile Pages With QR Codes

Burgeoning livestreaming service Live.me announced today several additions to its platform, including the ability to record short video clips in the vein of Vine, as well as scannable QR codes on users’ profiles through which users can instantly find and follow one another.

The first feature, called Shorts, will enable users to record or import videos that range in length between seven and 17 seconds, that they can then edit with filters, stickers, text, and voice modifiers. In order to spread the word, Live.me is launching a so-called #SuperSummerShorts contest through June 6, whereby prizes will be handed out to creators who helm the most inventive Shorts.

“Adding Shorts to Live.me provides our broadcasters even more ways to connect with their fans,” said Khudor Annous

, head of marketing and partnerships for Live.me — which is owned by Chinese internet giant Cheetah Mobile and calls itself the highest grossing live broadcasting app in the U.S. “We’ve heard from creators that they like the short video format, which compliments live video, and so we’re filling that need.”

Live.me, which snagged a $60 million funding round earlier this month, also recently added the ability to broadcast gaming streams.
