The Mobile Game Whose Cast Includes 21 YouTubers Is Now Available

If you spend a lot of time watching videos from YouTube’s gaming community, you might want to check out Fastlane: Road to Revenge. The mobile game, which puts players in the role of a crime boss looking to reclaim the streets of his city, and its cast includes more than 20 characters inspired by popular YouTubers.

Fastlane, developed by Space Ape Games, blends the top-down shootouts of old-school arcade games with the visual design of a Grand Theft Auto game. It has several qualities that have become commonplace in the mobile gaming world, including its pricing model (it is free to play but offers in-game microtransactions) and its simple interface that encourages players to enjoy it in short bursts.

Where Fastlane sets itself apart is through the partnerships Space Ape made with top YouTube stars. The creators featured in the game include Kwebbelkop

(pictured above), Jelly, and Slogoman, among others. Each participating YouTuber contributed to the design of his or her avatar while also working with Space Ape to devise items, missions, and rewards unique to his or her character. “After working with influencers for quite a few years and figuring out what their community really likes to watch, we tried to figure out how to make that a playable piece of the game,” said Space Ape’s Jodi Sahlin in a developer’s diary released alongside Fastlane.

If you’d like to check out the roles the featured YouTubers play in the game, or if you’re simply looking for some classic shoot-em-up action, you can find Fastlane on both the App Store and Google Play.
