U.K. YouTubers Launch GoFundMe Campaign For Family Of Fan Killed In Manchester Bombing

In the wake of a devastating terrorist attack in Manchester, England yesterday evening, which resulted in 59 injuries and 22 deaths, the online video community is rallying behind one of the first named victims, 18-year-old Georgina ‘Gina’ Callander.

In addition to being a fan of Ariana Grande, who was performing at the Manchester Arena just prior to the attack — which appears to have been carried out by a lone suicide bomber — Callander was also a superfan of several top YouTube stars, per We The Unicorns. A health and social care student at Runshaw College, she had met and taken selfies with the likes of Joe Sugg, Tyler Oakley, and identical twin lifestyle vloggers Lucy And Lydia (see below).

Now, U.K. vlogger Luke Cutforth

and musician Dodie Clark have banded together to launch a GoFundMe campaign to help Callander’s family with funeral and memorial costs. (The campaign has reportedly received the Callanders’ blessing). “Gina enjoyed the content that my friend Dodie (and others) put out, and we decided to use our audiences to help her family through this hard time,” writes Cutforth. “My hope is that it will alleviate some funeral costs and allow them time off work to grieve.”

In a matter of 10 hours, the campaign has raised more than $10,000 of a $13,000 goal — from a total of roughly 600 donors. Additional contributions can be tendered right here.
