Description: A pair of creators are looking to spin a tale that combines the cutthroat world of Wall Street with a magical world inspired by Harry Potter. That tale is titled Adventure Capital, and it comes from Jake Williamson and Britt Chandler Johnson, who have turned to Kickstarter backers in hopes of funding a pilot.

The protagonist of Adventure Capital is Hale Hill, a Wall Street analyst who is fired from his job. For his next gig, he looks to exploit the pure-hearted and passionate players of a fictitious sport called Squimig, which stands as an analogue for the also-fictitious sport of Quidditch from Harry Potter. What will follow, Williamson and Johnson hope, is a funny a charming look into the eccentricities of nerd culture.

On their campaign page, Williamson and Johnson name The Music Man, Oliver Stone’s Wall Street, and Harry Potter as three primary influences for Adventure Capital. In the pitch video, Williamson describes the series as “Gordon Gekko vs. Harry Potter.”

Creator Bio: Both Williamson and Johnson have experience in the New York City theater scene. Johnson also appeared in the film Men In Black 3.

Best Perk: If you contribute $25, you’ll receive a personalized thank you from an Adventure Capital character. Hopefully that thank you includes some tips for how to up your Squimig game.

Why You Should Fund It: Williamson and Johnson have come up with a fun idea for a show, and their pitch video shows viewers the sort of offbeat characters and back-and-forth dialogue they can expect. It’s promising stuff, and it’s going to look good, too. Adventure Capital will be produced by Sympatico, a studio that will be able to give the series a professional look. Here’s hoping to see it.
