Online video stars have worked magic for the book publishing industry, and more creators are receiving opportunities to show off what they can accomplish in the literary world. The latest YouTube notable who has signed a deal with a major publisher is Connie “Noodlerella” Glynn, who will pen three young-adult novels for Penguin Random House.
Glynn’s book series is titled The Rosewood Chronicles, and it will feature elements of the “school story” that has a long history in Glynn’s native Britain. The protagonist will be a 14-year-old named Lottie who will begin to live a whole new life after trading places with her roommate, a princess from a fictitious European nation called Maradova.
The Rosewood Chronicles will look to capitalize on the success Glynn has achieved on YouTube, where she is best known for her impression videos. She shared the news of her foray into the literary world in a video on her vlog channel. She noted that her hope is to eventually write five entries in the series.
Penguin Random House’s plan is to release the first book in The Rosewood Chronicles on September 21st, 2017. The second part of the three-book deal will follow in 2018, with the third arriving at an unspecified date after that. “Connie oozes creativity, and her energy for and commitment to this series is infectious,” said Publisher Ruth Knowles of Penguin Random House. “Through her online channels she clearly demonstrates her talent and vision, and she connects inventively and authentically with modern teens. This transfers wonderfully to the page. Her writing, and the cast she’s created, has such spark and shows such skill as a storyteller.”
Literary works authored by YouTube stars are often memoirs, but Glynn is not the only creator to pen a narrative work. Others who have written novels of their own include Zack King and Cinema Sins co-creator Jeremy Scott.
