20-Year-Old Jake Paul Raises $1 Million In Funding For His ‘TeamDom’ Social Media Company

Social media sensation and Disney Channel star Jake Paul has launched TeamDom (which stands for Teen Entertainment And Media Kingdom) — a multi-tiered digital media company that will aim to build the careers of fellow social stars through original content creation, brokering influencer marketing deals, and offering talent incubation and management.

And 20-year-old Paul, who serves as CEO of TeamDom, announced earlier this week that the company had cinched a $1 million funding round led by Danhua Capital — with participation from Edward Lando of Horizons Alpha, Gary Vaynerchuk of Vayner Capital, Abe Burns of Sound Ventures and A-Grande Investments, and Adam Zeplain. TeamDom will allocate funds for hiring, developing influencer products, and to creating original content initiatives, VentureBeat reports.

Additionally, TeamDom comprises a talent agency — and creator collective — called Team 10 (which also went on tour last summer with DigiTour); a boot camp and talent incubator called Team Fuze; and Team X, which serves to bridge the gap between American influencers and the Chinese market, where many popular stateside platforms are blocked. All told, TeamDom has 10 employees, according to VentureBeat.

Paul, who counts 17 million followers across all social platforms, says that the fleet of influencers repped by TeamDom — including Lucas and Marcus DobreStan GerardsAlex LangeAj MitchellAlissa Violet, and Neels Visser — count a total of 40 million followers and 7 billion views. This is a huge asset in terms of working with marketers on branded deals, Paul says, in that having a fleet of creators push a product tends to be more effective — and more lucrative — than signing individual deals. Thus far, TeamDom has worked with Coca-Cola, General Mills, and Pandora.

“There’s a huge gap between the teenage entertainment content being provided and that being demanded,” Paul told VentureBeat. “Consumers want advertisements to feel natural and friendly, which is why social media is such an important venue. TeamDom, with the help of our investors and latest funding round, is here to fill that gap.”
