Description: A web series that runs on a simple, well-realized premise is looking for a second season. It’s Complicated, which follows the story of a woman named Skye as she experiences her first major same-sex relationship, has turned to Indiegogo to fund a fresh batch of episodes.

There’s nothing too fancy about the plot of It’s Complicated: Skye begins a relationship with a woman named Alex and, with some assistance from her ex-boyfriend (and current roommate) Lance, must come to grips with her shifting sexuality. The show’s first season premiered over the summer a generated a bit of chatter, including a few shout-outs in the LGBT community and some appearances on the web festival circuit.

Season two will focus more on Alex, though it will employ the same character-driven approach that made the first season a hit with its fans. With the funds she hopes to raise on Indiegogo, creator Cheska Bacaltos will be able to bring her vision to life.

Creator Bio: Bacaltos’s relevant experience ranges from projects as big as the first Purge movie to ones as small as a friend’s engagement video.

Best Perk: Backers at the $30 level will receive a video of Sam Gabrielsen, who portrays Alex, “dancing like an idiot.” Foxtrot? Jitterbug? Dougie? Your guess is as good as ours.

Why You Should Fund It: The first season of It’s Complicated was a simple, small-budget endeavor, and that bare-bones approach allowed the series to paint a raw, emotional portrait of its protagonists and the complicated relationship among them. The viewers who have enjoyed it thus far have praised its intimacy and the degree to which viewers feel as if they are in the room with Skye, Alex, and Lance as they tangle themselves. Season two figures to offer a similar blend — and it deserves a shot.
