Tre Melvin, Brittany Furlan To Feature In YouTube Holiday Horror Series ‘12 Deadly Days’

YouTube Red is amassing a hefty pile of original programming for subscribers to unwrap this holiday season. Following its announcement of the Liza Koshy-starring comedy Jingle Ballin’ and The Keys Of Christmas, a holiday special featuring Mariah Carey and Rudy Mancuso, the platform announced today 12 Deadly Days, a half hour horror-comedy series slated to debut on Dec. 12.

The series will cover a dozen interconnected tales of the residents of a California town during the 12 days leading up to Christmas, as they are terrorized by killer carolers, vampires, cursed fruitcakes, and haunted Christmas trees. The series was produced by YouTube and the Emmy-winning Blumhouse Productions, which is behind Paranormal Activity, The Purge, and HBO‘s The Jinx docuseries.

Like The Keys Of Christmas, 12 Deadly Days will feature a melange of Hollywood talent and digital creators. In addition to Betty Gabriel (of The Purge: Election Year

) and Kaitlin Doubleday (Empire), YouTube creators slated to be featured include Anna Akana, Burnie Burns, Timothy DeLaGhetto, Brittany Furlan, Tre Melvin, Mikey Murphy, Eric Ochoa, Nikki Limo, Troy Pindell, Meghan Rienks, Jake Roper and Alexis Zall. Check out the trailer below:

“We’re honored to be working with Blumhouse, the masters of horror, as we move into more genre programming for YouTube Red, and we’re excited to pair them with twelve of the best actor-creators on YouTube for 12 Deadly Days,” said Tim Shey, head of scripted programming for YouTube Originals, in a statement.

This isn’t the first time that YouTube has partnered with Blumhouse. In September, the two companies erected virtual reality horror sets at five YouTube Spaces around the world, giving 100 creators the opportunity to make 360-degree horror videos.
