National Geographic Wild’s First Digital Series Is Fauna-Filled ‘Wild_Life’

On platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube, National Geographic has established itself as one of the most social media-conscious publications. Now, it is extending its digital reach to its secondary channels. It has launched Wild_Life, a new series that serves as the first digital series under the National Geographic Wild brand.

Nat Geo Wild, which is available in more than 57 million American households, focuses on the sort of nature content that first allowed Nat Geo to build itself up as a preeminent media company (before its main TV channel branched out to hit a wider range of topics). Wild_Life fits into the channel’s game plan by taking viewers to the Pacific Northwest, where many rare species are conserved within their natural habitats. Led by host Bertie Gregory, a 23-year-old photographer who has spent the past two years on various assignments for Nat Geo, Wild_Life

episodes focus on particular animals and spotlight them. Gregory’s splendid photos and videography combine with slick graphics to create the sort of visual spectacle viewers have come to expect from Nat Geo.

Here’s the first episode of the series, which chronicles Gregory’s encounter with coastal wolves:

Wild_Life was first announced during Nat Geo’s 2016 Newfronts presentation, when the company also announced nine other upcoming original projects. In total, Wild_Life will consist of 16 episodes, all of which will be available on the Nat Geo website and the Nat Geo Wild YouTube channel (which also contains several TV companions for Wild shows). The first two episodes are up now, so feel free to join Gregory on his journey.
