The Streamy Awards

Submissions For The 2016 Streamy Awards — Including 3 New Categories — Are Now Open

Submissions for the sixth annual Streamy Awards are currently open at at www.streamys.org.

The awards show — which recognizes the year’s best online videos and the creators behind them — will for the first time feature three new categories: Virtual Reality and 360-Degree Video; Live video; and Feature production, acknowledging creator-driven, feature-length films. Submissions will close on July 18, nominees will be announced in August, and the Streamys will be held in the fall.

“Innovation has always been a hallmark of the online video community,” said Streamy Awards creator (and Tubefilter co-founder) Drew Baldwin in a statement. “Our new awards reflect the pioneering spirit and current state of the industry, while also embracing the passion and engagement of online video creators.”

This is the fourth year that noted televised live event producer Dick Clark Productions and Tubefilter have teamed up for the Streamy Awards. “Digital creators continue to be a vital component to entertainment across all platforms, and we look forward to growing upon the success of last year’s show.” added Dick Clark’s EVP of brand, marketing, and digital strategy, Ariel Elazar

.

The full list of 44 Streamys categories is available here. And, once again, in a nod to the importance of the fan community, the public will be able to choose one nominees in each category. Fan voting will open on July 11, and the top-voted entrant in each category will automatically become a nominee. This is in addition to the two Audience Choice AwardsEntertainer of the Year and Show of the Year — that are entirely determined by fan vote. “Audience engagement and interaction is a cornerstone of online video,” noted Streamy Awards creator (and Tubefilter co-founder) Josh Cohen. Other Streamy Award winners are determined by a panel comprising creators, executives and other leading experts in the space.

In addition to this year’s stateside production, 2016 also marks the first year that the Streamys will debut an international version of the show, Streamys India, in partnership with local digital media outfit Culture Machine.
