Rooster Teeth has dubbed the upcoming season as its “summer of animation,” and thatwill extend to the studio’s yearly convention as well. At the 2016 edition of RTX, Rooster Teeth will debut its first ever Rooster Teeth Animation Festival, with several top digital animation channels flocking to Austin for a series of screenings, panels, and meetups.
The animation channels that will participate in the Animation Festival at RTX will include How It Should Have Ended, ExplosmEntertainment, MondoMedia, and Frederator, whose primary YouTube channels count nearly 16 million subscribers combined. Between July 2-3, creators from those channels will share new content with attendees.
“Rooster Teeth Animation wants to celebrate this amazing time we’re in, as both animators and fans. We’re starting by showcasing a collection of some of the top independent online talent, as well as studios that are trailblazing in the industry,” said Gray G. Haddock, Head of Animation at Rooster Teeth, in a press release. “Just as animation is growing stronger at Rooster Teeth, we want to use events like this to help others coming up in the industry, and better enable the connection between animators and audience as a whole. Really, we just want an excuse to get a couple thousand people together to watch a bunch of animation and geek out over making it.”
Beyond the new Animation Festival, RTX will also include dozens of events led by Rooster Teeth’s producers, hosts, and other contributors. Tickets to the convention are still available; weekend passes, which provide access to three days of festivities between July 1st and July 3rd, cost $85 apiece. Individual day passes will run you $45.
