The twisted universe of Miranda Sings just got a little more twisted. Colleen Evans, the YouTube mastermind behind the delusional chanteuse, just unveiled two of Miranda’s much-talked-about-but-never-before-seen family members, who are set to costar in the forthcoming scripted Netflix series Haters Back Off.
In a video on her personal channel, Evans shared that Miranda’s mother, Bethany, would be played by The Office’s Angela Kinsey. Miranda’s uncle, Jim, with whom she has an oddly–charged relationship, will be played by The Grinder’s Steve Little.
“They have been in my head for eight years,” Evans said of the characters. “You guys have been wanting to see Miranda’s mom and uncle in videos for years — you’ve been begging for it — and I’ve been saving them for this Netflix original series.” Following the announcement, Kinsey joined Evans for a classic YouTube collaboration in which they guessed one another’s favorite colors, foods, and more (below).
While Miranda’s mom and uncle have yet to be fleshed out, the lipstick-loving performer has talked about them extensively in her videos and on social media. According to her official bio, Miranda lives with her mom and uncle in Washington, and notes that, “My mom always new [sic] I would be a singer because when I was cut out of her stomach I cried.”
Haters Back Off, which will follow Miranda as she soars to digital greatness despite her complete lack of talent, is filming this month in Vancouver, and the eight-episode series will debut later this year.
