Vice Reportedly Planning New Vertical Based Around Health

Over the past two years, Vice has added to its digital network with new verticals that cover topics like food, sports, and women’s issues. Now, the millennial-skewing media company is reportedly planning to dive into a new category: health. According to Variety, Vice will launch its health vertical in the next couple of months.

Vice declined to comment on Variety’s report, so there isn’t yet any official word related to the company’s plans for health content. If the article in question is to be believed, the upcoming vertical will bring Vice’s signature edgy approach to consumers who are interested in living a more healthy lifestyle. Kate Lowenstein

, the former health director of Prevention magazine, is expected to lead the new venture.

The health vertical will look to fit into a Vice landscape where some category-specific destinations catch on and others underperform. Food vertical Munchies, for example, has found an audience, while female-facing hub Broadly has been less successful. Meanwhile, as it continues to expand its digital network, Vice is also pushing its way onto TV screens. The company’s channel, Viceland, launched in February.
