Hannah Hart, sporting newly platinum locks, just announced the follow-up to her first New York Times best selling book, My Drunk Kitchen — which represented a seminal deal in the space as one of the first hit books to be released by a YouTuber.
But while My Drunk Kitchen comprised recipes, stories, photos, and more, piggybacking on Hart’s notoriety as YouTube’s favorite tipsy chef, her latest tome, Buffering: Unshared Tales of a Life Fully Loaded, seems decidedly more solemn. It will comprise a collection of narrative essays about intimately personal aspects of the 29-year-old’s life, including family, faith, love, sexuality, self-worth, friendship and fame — all culled from her personal journals.
The book is available for preoder today and will arrive in stores October 18, Hart announced in a video today, in which she is besieged by emotions and must stop several times to take deep breaths — all while encouraging viewers to open a new tab and preoder a copy, of course.
Buffering, like My Drunk Kitchen before it, is being published by the Harper Collins imprint Dey Street Books.
Though Hart was mum on specifics, one passage she shared provided a glimpse into the weight of the content to come: “Sometimes I hear my father’s voice saying that the devil wants us to misplace our anger that we have at this system of things and point it towards God. It makes me feel wicked and wretched to be angry, because our creator has not wronged me — the weakness and the wrongness has always been in myself.”
Of course, as Hart is a master of processing profound concepts through her signature wit and propensity for puns, Buffering is sure to be as entertaining as it is insightful. Hart will also appear at BookCon in Chicago next month for a panel discussion and meet-and-greet about the book.
