Ellen DeGeneres Premieres ‘Dance Challenge’ As Ellentube’s First Original Series

In 2014, Ellen DeGeneres announced the launch of Ellentube, a digital video destination meant to complement her popular daytime TV program, The Ellen DeGeneres Show. More than a year later, Ellentube has unveiled its first ever original series: It’s a competition between talented youngsters, and it’s titled tWitch & Allison’s Dance Challenge.

The “tWitch” in the show’s title doesn’t represent the streaming service of the same name; rather, it refers to the nickname of Stephen Boss, The Ellen DeGeneres Show’s DJ. In Dance Challenge, Boss and his wife, Dancing With The StarsAllison Holker, mentor six child dancers and hold court as the kids compete to see which one will perform on Ellen at a later date.

DeGeneres introduced Dance Challenge on her TV show, but five of its eight episodes will exclusive to the Internet (and Ellentube in particular). Here’s the first installment, which introduces the concept of the show and invites the first contestant to step up to the stage.

During Ellen’s 13-season reign as one of daytime TV’s most popular show, DeGeneres has given many children a chance to perform their special talents in front of her. That tendency has also made her popular on another platform where cute kids rule: YouTube. Ellen’s official YouTube channel is one of the video site’s most popular destinations, with more than 15 million subscribers and over seven billion views. The decision to launch Ellentube stemmed from DeGeneres popularity on social media and her desire to create a family-friendly video destination.

Dance Challenge is a logical extension of Ellen’s child-safe brand, and it adds to the Internet’s strong canon of cute kid dance videos. Look for its new episodes as they arrive on Ellentube.
