New ‘HeyUSA’ Spinoff, Hosted By Vine Stars Marcus And Cody Johns, Arrives On Go90

Astronauts Wanted has premiered a pair of shows on mobile video platform Go90. The digital studio has premiered HeyUSAx, a spinoff of travel series HeyUSA, and the third season of Tawk With Awkwafina, a youthful talk show.

HeyUSAx follows the two seasons of HeyUSA, which featured Mamrie Hart, Grace Helbig, and several special guests as they embarked on a cross-country adventure. In the spinoff, Hart and Helbig take a back seat, and Marcus and Cody Johns, a pair of brothers who are both big on Vine, take center stage. HeyUSAx is particularly focused on extreme sports, and in its trailer, the Johns brothers explore mechanical bull riding, MMA fighting, and a number of other athletic activities. Additional challenges will be selected by fans in order to add in an element of the social media interactivity for which Astronauts Wanted productions are known.

“It was an amazing opportunity to work with Cody outside of just a Vine, and take our audience on a journey in which they created!” said Marcus Johns in a press release. “I would have never done so many bizarre, interesting things without this awesome show, and for that, I am grateful.”

Tawk With Awkwafina is also leveraging the influence of social media stars. Its eponymous host, a rapper whose real name is Nora Lum, will sit down with a number of digital standouts, including YouTube star Kingsley, who appears in the new season’s first episode. Her other guests will include The Daily Show’s Hasan Minhaj and chef Roy Choi.

Both HeyUSAx and Tawk With Awkwafina were announced as Go90 exclusives last November. Verizon’s streaming video app, which launched last October, is in the midst of a huge content push. It is available for both iOS and Android.
