Judd Apatow’s ‘Love’ Gets February 19th Release Date On Netflix

Netflix will kick off 2016 by releasing one of its most anticipated original series. The streaming video platform has announced a February 19th release date for Love, a comedy co-created by esteemed director Judd Apatow.

As a logline for the series reveals, Love will share many “Apatowian” aspects in common with its co-creator’s previous work. In particular, the plot summary is reminiscent of Trainwreck, Apatow’s most recent film. “Love follows nice guy Gus and brazen wild-child Mickey as they navigate the exhilarations and humiliations of intimacy, commitment, love and other things they were hoping to avoid,” reads Netflix’s description of the show. “Love is an unflinching, hilarious and excruciatingly honest take on modern relationships.

The couple at the center of Love will be played by Paul Rust and Gillian Jacobs, both of whom can be seen in the “first look” photo seen above. Rust is also one of the three co-creators of the show, alongside Apatow and Lesley Arfin

On its YouTube channel, Netflix also shared a quick teaser for Love. The video riffs on a timely theme of New Year’s resolutions before announcing the show’s February 19th release date.

Netflix first announced its decision to distribute Love back in September 2014. Previously, Apatow and Arfin had been linked to a rumored deal with Hulu. When its ten half-hour episodes arrive, Love will stand as one of Netflix’s first major releases of the new year. Other upcoming additions to the platform’s catalog include imminent reboots of Degrassi and Full House, which will both arrive during the first two months of 2016.
