Twosome Behind ‘Burning Love’ Signs Deal With Multi-Platform Studio Insurrection Media

In July, former FOX exec Kiliaen Van Rensselaer launched Insurrection Media, a studio that plans to release TV-quality content on digital platforms. Now, two months later, Insurrection has brokered a first-look deal with a pair of talented producers. It has announced a multi-year pact with Jonathan Stern and Keith Quinn. Stern was executive producer of the hit 2012 web series Burning Loveand Quinn worked on it as a studio executive from Paramount.

As part of the deal, Stern and Quinn will produce multiple series, which Insurrection will distribute across digital and over-the-top platforms. In doing so, the two producers will continue their partnership with van Rensselaer. Back when van Resselear was still at FOX, he teamed with Stern and Quinn for Filthy Sexy Teen$, a high school comedy that was picked up by Fullscreen earlier this year.

“The collaboration with Jon and Keith this past year reinforced my conviction that they are truly exceptional executive producers who have incredible instincts for finding daring, hilarious projects and nurturing creators, writers, directors, actors and crew to produce world-class shows,” said van Rensselaer in a press release. “They posses the rare quality of understanding what pleases both linear and digital video network buyers and consumers across all formats.”

Burning Love, a Streamy winner, stands as Stern and Quinn’s most significant collaboration to date. It hilariously parodied the absurdity of The Bachelor by focusing on a group of women, all of whom sought the love of a lone fireman played by Ken Marino. Stern has gone on to executive produce several other reality TV parodies since then, including The Hotwives of Orlando and Beef. His non-parody work includes Netflix’s recent revival of Wet Hot American Summer.
