YouTube Stars To Stand Up To Cancer With 12-Hour Live Stream

A gaggle of YouTube stars are joining forces to create a cancer-fighting super-team. At least seven British YouTubers will make guest appearances during a 12-hour live stream hosted by the Stand Up To Cancer initiative.

The live stream, which will begin at 12 PM GMT on October 17th, will be produced by Endemol Shine’s Princess Productions and hosted by Niki’n’Sammy, Oli White, Stuart Ashen, and Tomska. Throughout the show, the hosts will invite some of their friends from the YouTube world to join them for a series of activities, including Google hangouts, performances, and prize giveaways. Confirmed guests include Caspar Lee, Dan Howell, Jim Chapman, Joe Sugg, Marcus Butler, Phil Lester, and Pixiwoo.

The event will support Stand Up To Cancer, a yearly fundraising drive that supports the Cancer Research UK organization. 2015 will be the fourth year of Stand Up To Cancer; so far, it has raised more than £23 million ($35.6 million), including an impressive £15.5 ($24.1 million) total last year.

“We’re beyond excited about this event, it is unlike anything we’ve done before and it’s been great to see how many people have pledged their support. The content creators reach millions of people who we hope will be excited to get involved and donate funds for this vital cause,” said Claire Rowney, director of Stand Up To Cancer, in a press release. “We’ve made amazing progress against cancer in the past few decades but one in two of us in the UK will develop cancer in our lifetime so we can’t afford to stand still. All the money raised at this event will go directly to Stand Up To Cancer’s work to accelerate new cancer treatments and tests and ultimately it’ll help save more lives.”
