‘The New Adventures Of Peter + Wendy’ Sets June 12 Debut For Season Two

Fans of the web series The New Adventures of Peter + Wendy (NPW) can start celebrating. The second season of the modern adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s Peter and Wendy will debut on June 12, 2015.

NPW stars Kyle Walters as Peter Pan and Paula Rhodes as Wendy Darling, two long-time friends from Neverland, Ohio with very different ideas about growing up. The second season of the web series will re-introduce viewers to Peter and Wendy, after the latter left Neverland to pursue the job of her dreams despite Peter’s growing affections for her. NPW

season two will, according to the series’ creative team, show “old loves wilt while new loves blossom,” and introduce old enemies who will test the friendships of characters established in the first season.

NPW is structured much like the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, with Wendy vlogging her daily experiences and Peter talking to the camera as if it were his friend, the fairy Tinkerbell. A few episodes bring on scripted scenes, as well. Boasting over 1 million views for season one, NPW uses transmedia elements like character Twitter accounts and a Tumblr account, which all combined garnered the series the 2015 International Academy of Web Television award for Best Transmedia Experience.

The NPW production crew decided to start an Indiegogo campaign in August 2014 to fund the second season of the series. The crowdfunding effort resulted in $57,027 a month later, just passing its $55,000 goal. During the campaign, the NPW creative team also hired several new cast members, including Supernatural’s Jim Beaver as Mr. Darling and Meghan Camarena (aka Strawburry17) as Billie Jukes.

NPW producer Jenni Powell told Tubefilter the Indiegogo campaign gave her team the ability keep paying all cast and crew properly while bringing on this new talent. “Our cast doubled in season 2 and we wanted to still be able to pay everyone like we did for season one,” Powell explained. “The Indiegogo campaign and our amazing fans that donated to it allowed us to do that.”

You can catch the premiere episode of The New Adventures of Peter + Wendy season two when it debuts on the EpicRobotTV YouTube channel on June 12.
