Marriott Hires Variety’s Marc Graser As Editorial Director

Marriott International has added a new executive to its branded digital content studio. The hotel chain hired Marc Graser, former senior editor at Variety, as the editorial director of its Creative and Content Studio.

In the newly-created position, Graser will be responsible for supervising all of Marriott’s content across digital, social media, television, film, and other platforms. Graser brings to this new role his previous experience writing about various entertainment and travel-related topics, like movies, video games, airlines, and theme parks, during his 13 years at Variety.

“We’re excited to have Marc join the global marketing team at Marriott International,” said Marriott’s VP of Creative and Content Marketing David Beebe in a release reported by Variety. “Marc will play a key role in developing our global content ecosystem, and his experience as a storyteller will further propel the creative and content marketing strategy of our portfolio of 18 brands globally.”

“This new role is all about storytelling, and it is what I have been doing my entire career,” Graser explained. “Variety

has been my home for so long, and I’ll cherish every minute I’ve spent working with and learning from some of the best minds in Hollywood, but I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help bring Marriott and its brands to life in creative ways that will connect with today’s travelers.”

Marriott Content Studio launched back in September 2014 with the goal of engaging millennial-aged travelers and hotel guests. Within its short existence, the studio has already planned and released some significant pieces content, like a What’s Trending-produced travel series starring YouTubers and a short action comedy film dubbed Two Bellmen. Marriott Content Studio received the Brand of the Year award from MIPTV because of its digital branded entertainment efforts.

Graser will work under Beebe out of Marriott’s headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland.
