Hulu has more stories to tell about an apathetic New York City dude who sees ghosts. The streaming video platform announced its original supernatural comedy series Deadbeat will return for a second season on April 20, 2015.
Deadbeat follows Kevin (played by Tyler Labine), a medium who is competent at helping ghosts complete their unfinished business but utterly incapable of making his own life better. Season two will include special guest stars James Franco (who just signed on to star in Hulu’s upcoming adaptation of a Stephen King novel), Danny DeVito, Fred Armisen, Michael Ian Black, Zach Levi, Gilbert Gottfried, Finn Wittrock, and Jim Norton.
When Deadbeat debuted back in April 2014, we noted how Kevin’s lazy behavior and appearance appeals to the binge-watching, pot-smoking crowd. It seems appropriate, then, that Hulu has opted to release Deadbeat
season two on 4/20, an important day in the stoner community. The teaser and key art for season two even show Kevin blowing some smoke himself:Produced by Lionsgate Television, Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, and Dakota Pictures, Deadbeat comes from creators Cody Heller and Brett Konner (Wilfred, The Inbetweeners). Heller and Konner also executive produce the series alongside Dan Lagma (Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous) and Plan B’s Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner.
You can watch season two of Deadbeat on Hulu starting April 20. Hulu may opt to put several episodes exclusively on Hulu Plus (as it did with the first season), so be prepared to subscribe if you are one of those binge-watchers.
