New Form Digital Joins With Lisa Kudrow’s Studio For Digital Projects

Through a new deal, New Form Digital will soon be expanding its production opportunities. The digital studio from Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, and Discovery Communications has entered into an exclusive partnership with Lisa Kudrow and Dan Bucatinsky‘s production company, Is or Isn’t Entertainment.

Under the pact, New Form will become the sole digital production partner of Is or Isn’t Entertainment. The two companies are already working together on two projects set for spring 2015 production. One of those projects, titled Shitty Boyfriends, is a series from writer Jessica Cabot about a feminist cartoonist trying to find love. The plot of the second series is yet to be announced.

Kudrow and Bucatinsky are already familiar with the online video world. The duo worked on the popular Web Therapy web series, which starred Kudrow and debuted on Lexus’ L/Studio platform. Showtime picked up extended episodes of the series in 2011 while it continued to run online. Web Therapy is now a part of the StyleHaul network.

“Dan and Lisa have a lot of interest and success in digital,” New Form’s chief creative officer Kathleen Grace told The Hollywood Reporter, who first reported on the deal. “We have a lot of digital expertise, so we can help them build out their digital arm and make it more robust.” Grace also noted how New Form’s experience with digital storytelling should help Is or Isn’t Entertainment reach a younger online audience.

New Form launched in April 2014 and has already made a name for itself in the digital realm. The studio’s first Incubator program, which it launched in October, resulted in 14 short films from various YouTubers such as Sawyer Hartman and Joey Graceffa. More recently, New Form introduced the second round of the Incubator series, with the short film projects set for a May 2015 debut.

No release dates for either of New Form’s projects with Is or Isn’t Entertainment have been announced as of yet.
