BroadbandTV Debuts Hip-Hop-Centric Network ‘Opposition’, Hits 3 Billion Monthly Views

Like at least one other online video entity, BroadbandTV is getting into the music biz. The YouTube multi-channel network announced on January 21, 2015 its shiny new hip-hop music network Opposition.

Opposition seeks to partner with both long-time and soon-to-be-famous hip-hop artists and provide them with a resource and platform to grow their talents, distribution, marketing, and fan base. Content partners at Opposition’s launch include rapper KXNG Crooked of Slaughterhouse, Twista and Yung Simmie; producers Jahlil Beats, 1500 or Nothin’, and Statik Selektah; directors Mr. Zae and Hi-Def; and brands WorldStarHipHop and All Hip Hop All The Time.

“We’re really focused on driving forward the whole online video ecosystem around music-based content for a diverse range of talent,” said Ali Adab, BroadbandTV’s VP of Content & Partnerships, in the release. “With Opposition, we understand that hip-hop content creators have drastically different needs than other creators, and we have worked to create a community that respects this, while providing them with the infrastructure and solutions to capitalize on the unique opportunity online video offers.”

The debut of Opposition is BroadbandTV’s most recent example of its expansion and growth efforts. Last year, the MCN partnered with FremantleMedia and launched a brand solutions service for companies wanting to improve their presences on YouTube. BroadbandTV also re-launched its gaming network TGN with 11 new shows in late 2014. Finally, the MCN announced a physical expansion of its Vancouver-based offices into New York City.

You can visit Opposition at its home site or on its YouTube channel. BroadbandTV now boasts over 25,000 channels and recently hit the 3 billion global video views per month milestone.
