Vimeo Adds New Features, Updates Look Of Vimeo On Demand Pages

Vimeo just made some of its pages far more useful and way more pretty than they were before. The online video site has updated the look of its Vimeo on Demand pages and added several new features, like a revitalized comment system and easier ways for viewers to receive updates from the titles and creators they like.

According to a Vimeo blog post, Vimeo on Demand pages received some aesthetic changes that should make them look more appealing to prospective purchasers. For starters, the streaming site has added its video player to the top of all pages and tweaked the player for maximum loading speed. And due to Vimeo’s developers implementing some “color-math magic,” Demand pages now also have default customized designs, which automagically take their cue and hues from the color scheme of the page’s video and uploaded images.

The Vimeo blog post also re-emphasized the availability of 4K streaming content. Back in December 2014, Vimeo updated Vimeo on Demand pages to allow viewers to purchase and download content in 4K. The site’s recent blog post mentioned Freddie Wong

as an excellent example of a creator implementing the ultra-high definition format downloading option for viewers of his hit Video Game High School series.

Some functional features were added to Vimeo on Demand pages, too. Pages are now fully responsive, adapting to a viewer’s screen size no matter what device they’re using. Vimeo also accepts payments for creators’ titles in Euros, which is just a small step towards the site’s overall goal of reaching more international audiences.

As for user-focused updates, Vimeo added the ability for creators to send updates about their projects and for viewers to opt in to receive these updates. The streaming site also now allows viewers to easily recommend a title to their friends.

Vimeo’s blog post concludes by saying 2015 is “going to be a good one” and more updates are planned for later in the year. For now, you can browse Vimeo on Demand to see all the most recent changes for yourself.
