Browser Add-On Improves YouTube For Users With Slow Speeds

If you are a Firefox or Chrome browser user and you consistently need to pause YouTube videos to let them buffer, there’s a piece of software available to help you stop experiencing interruptions. SmartVideo is a browser add-on full of features that give YouTube viewers the ability to watch uninterrupted videos no matter their connection speed.

SmartVideo’s software lets its users control how YouTube clips stream. Through the add-on, users can choose to let a video fully load before it starts to play. Alternatively, SmartVideo users can allow the “smart buffer” feature to decide when to begin play videos, as determined by each user’s respective download speed. According to its site, SmartVideo’s features work on “regular” YouTube videos as well as the site’s embedded and HTML5 players.

If you’d like to try out SmartVideo for yourself, you can get it for Chrome via the Web Store or for Firefox via its Add-Ons site.
