Description: Seeking, created by Ronit Aranoff, is a web series about a woman named Ella (played by Aranoff) who is attempting to find love in the big city. On its own, that sounds like a bit of a stale premise, but Seeking adds a twist by basing its plotlines off real stories submitted by lovelorn fans. This formula powered a ten-episode first season, which snagged a few thousand views on YouTube and earned a feature in our weekly Indie Spotlight.

With their crowdfunding campaign, Aranoff and her team are looking to fund a second season, and once again, they’re asking their viewers to submit their own horror stories of romance gone awry. “Send us 108 characters of your worst date to seekingthewebseries@gmail.com

,” reads the project’s Indiegogo page.

Aranoff has accompanied the campaign with a pitch video that resembles the first season of Seeking: It’s quick, to-the-point, and just a bit risque. Give it a watch:

Creator Bio: Fun fact: Aranoff began her acting career when she was a month-old, playing a baby in Days of Our Lives. She has appeared in plenty of productions as a non-tiny actress, too.

Best Perk: For $150, Seeking will provide five hours of babysitting, allowing parents to get out for a date. If the date goes bad, you can send it in to Seeking. Win win!

Why You Should Fund It: We’re not the only people who admired the first season of Seeking; in the past year, it has also managed to pick up some fancy hardware, snagging wins at Long Beach Indie and LA WebFest. The series’ true-to-life core is a big part of its appeal, but in the end, Seeking would not succeed without a tight script and strong performances from its cast.
