PopSugar Announces Release Date, Casting For First Scripted Series

Entertainment and lifestyle news site PopSugar previously announced its intention to delve into the scripted web series world with its comedy Seriously Distracted. Now the site has announced a release date of October 21, 2014 for the show and revealed the lineup of cast members, including Amy Sedaris.

Produced by Above Average (the network behind such comedy productions as Monkey Love and One Take Movies), Seriously Distracted tells the story of Sedaris’s New York-based publicity firm, LeGrand PR, whose employees just can’t seem to get past their obsession with pop culture in order to snag their biggest client yet. PopSugar Studios president David Grant told The Hollywood Reporter that “the show began to develop after [he] saw a video that the women of Above Average put together about how they reacted to the news of Gwyneth Paltrow

and Chris Martin‘s ‘conscious uncoupling.’”

“We’re always keeping our eyes out for things that we feel our audience will love,” said Grant. “And Seriously Distracted felt right for our brand.”

The eight-episode comedy will also feature actresses Greta Lee, Laura Grey, Morgan Grace Jarrett, and Cathryn Mudon, with guest appearances by Kimiko Glenn (of Orange Is the New Black fame) and YouTuber Arden Rose. Seriously Distracted episodes will be released weekly on PopSugar.com, AboveAverage.com, and both companiescorresponding YouTube channels.
