Earlier this summer, rumors floated around the web about Amazon Studios ordering a new comedy series called Down Dog. Today, it seems they’ve finally started working on the series as they’ve cast Lyndsy Fonseca in a lead role.
The Hollywood Reporter first wrote about the Nikita star’s new role in the pilot, which will introduce viewers to the character Logan (played by Bad Teacher’s Josh Casaubon), a deadbeat guy simply getting by on his “charisma, charm and good looks” until he’s forced to run his ex-girlfriend’s yoga studio. Fonseca will star opposite Casaubon, playing a yoga teacher named Winter who’s “described as stunning if bedraggled, waif and unreliable and always late — and a love interest for Logan.”
Down Dog was created by Robin Schiff of Are You There, Chelsea? and the pilot starring Casaubon and Fonseca will be directed by Brad Silberling, director of films like Land of the Lost and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.
There’s no release date yet for the Amazon show, but Fonseca, already a familiar name in comedy circles because of her role as Ted’s daughter on How I Met Your Mother, seems like she could be a good match for the project.
