Fantasy web series just leveled up thanks to Girls with Swords.
Directed by Kial Natale (aka Megasteakman of Pokémon Apokélypse viral video fame), Girls with Swords is a new fantasty, action-packed series offering viewers a little bit of everything. It’s a wildly imaginative addition to the genre of gaming web series, combining elements of anime, retro RPGs, and tabletop humor. The series offers everything a geek could want in a live-action offering. Plus, of course, there are girls with swords.
While the project started innocently enough as a small short designed to use a low-budget costuming aesthetic with professional art-design (including some fantastic papercraft) and filmmaking, it has transformed into a nearly all CGI show with epic characters, novel environments, and monsters with an Achilles’ heel for sharp objects. The premiere episode of that show launched on the Megasteakman channel earlier this month. Game of Bones is a pilot for what will hopefully be a fully-fledged series and gives viewers a glimpse into the Girls with Swords’ universe.
