Airbnb Wants To Make The First Vine Movie, 6 Seconds At A Time

It’s not only individuals who are attempting to leverage the weed-like growth and opportunity for celebrity star status on Vine. Brands are using Twitter’s 6-second video platform for acclaim and things cool, too.

The latest and most noteworthy instance is Airbnb’s online video project Hollywood and Vines. The online platform that connects hosts and travelers looking for lodging across the globe is stitching together a crowdsourced short film one-half-dozen seconds at a time. It’s like Star Wars Uncut, except it’s original intellectual property instead of a shot-for-shot remake of a classic major motion picture and it’s done by way of Twitter and a shot list instead of a custom website and 15-second scenes.

Here’s how it works:

From 8/22 – 8/27, our director will deliver shot instructions to you via the Twitter handle @Airbnb, then you’ll shoot the Vines, and share them back on Twitter. We’ll do the rest.

And here’s how to get started:

  1. Follow @Airbnb on Twitter.
  2. Watch for daily shot directions via @Airbnb.
  3. Make Vines.

And here’s all that information in video form:

The short will premiere on August 12 on the Sundance Channel and all those participants whose shots get chosen for the final cut will receive $100 in Airbnb credit as a sign of the company’s appreciation. But beyond a contributor credit on a short film that will air on premium cable television, these 6-seconds could just set you on a path towards multi-million-follower Vine fame. Good luck.
