The web series based off a show within a show making fun of another show is looking for help to complete its return. Untitled Web Series About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time creator Travis Richey has launched a Kickstarter campaign through which he is seeking $125,000 to fund a second season of the sci-fi comedy web series.
For the uninitiated, Untitled Web Series… is a copyright-safe version of Inspector Spacetime, the very funny Doctor Who parody from Community. The first season of the show, also fueled by a successful Kickstarter campaign
, ran for six episodes and racked up several hundred thousand views, thanks in part to Community‘s incredible popularity on the Internet. The amount Richey is seeking for season 2 is more than six times the budget of season 1, which will allow him to triple the length of the next six episodes and pay his cast and crew; among this season’s planned guest stars are Big Bang Theory‘s Mayim Bialik and Star Trek: Voyager‘s Robert Picardo. “Snagging Picardo is sweet!” exclaimed director Nicholas Acosta. “Working with the EMH is a dream come true. I wish I could high-five my younger self who sat in my room watching Voyager for hours.”
Piacrdo is one of the actors visible in the season 2 trailer, which hints at plenty more TARDIS-flavored action comedy.
At this point, Untitled Web Series… has evolved beyond its initial focus and has become one of the most popular fan-made spinoff web series. Thanks to its appeal to the Internet’s plentiful collection of nerds and its big plans, the show should find its hefty fundraising goal well within reach.
