Revision3’s Latest Test Tube Series Contributes To The Slow Mo Trend

Revision3‘s new TestTube sub-network continues to crack out high-quality shows reminiscent of its parent company, Discovery. Its latest effort is The Discovery Slow Down, which takes footage from the Discovery library and slows it to a crawl.

The Discovery Slow Down combines elements of several other TestTube shows. It is the network’s second slow motion show, joining the funkier Distort. However, as with comedy series Nature Hates You, Discovery Slow Down‘s main weapon is the massive number of cool clips in the Discovery archive. In the first episode, we get to see a slowed down version of a master chainsaw juggler. He’s pretty awesome in real time, and everything’s cooler in slow motion. You can put two and two together.

Slow motion series are crazy popular these days. Ever since The

Slow-Mo Guys took off to the tune of more than two million subscribers, we’ve seen several other channels featuring a similar concept, including TestTube’s offerings and The NOC’s Fighter Vs. Food. YouTube even released a tool that allows users to slow down their videos at will. It’s not a particularly backbreaking trend to understand: when you see the effects of a high-speed camera, it acts like a trippy, mind-altering drug.

So is The Discovery Slow Down worth it? It doesn’t have The Slow Mo Guys trademark humor, but it does pepper in a few interesting science facts along the way. Therefore, even if it’s not the best of the slow motion series, it’s definitely the most educational. Give it a try; you may learn a thing or two.
