Comedian Rob Cantrell Talking To Random Objects In Bonnaroo Web Series

Bonnaroo‘s YouTube Original Channel, Bonnaroo365, hasn’t been one of the top entries in YouTube’s premium content push. However, the Tennessean music festival is looking to change that with a new web series, Universally Speaking, which has launched in advance of 2013’s Bonnaroo festival.

The star of Universally Speaking is Rob Cantrell, a comedian who is holds conversations with inanimate objects. As the series’ intro song states, “Rob’s just a dude talking to things. They talk back and tell him things.” In the first episode, Rob chats with a tree in the park who has a tip on next week’s Powerball numbers, sells secrets to the Russians, and searches for investors for his startup: AlmostFreeCreditScore.Porn. It’s a random, absurd brand of humor, and it got a few legit LOLs from me.

Other released episodes show Rob talking to a chess queen, lamp post, and cactus. I want a talking banana slicer, please.

Aside from Universally Speaking, Bonnaroo is also prepping for its main event (which begins on June 13th) by bringing in David Cross to announce the festival’s featured comedians. Cross doesn’t really do anything except say names, but anything he does to remind me of Tobias Funke (and Arrested Development‘s upcoming fourth season) is a win in my book.
