Online Video Industry Descending Upon Orlando For Playlist Live

Playlist Live, the yearly weekend-long event dedicated to the online video industry (no, not that one), is taking off this weekend in Orlando. A huge number of industry notables will be making an appearance, and it seems as if every single panel, meetup, and performance includes a name we’ve covered in this space. For those of you making the trip, here are a few select panels worth checking out on Business Day (Friday, March 22nd).

11 am – A The State of the Industry: How Television is Changing as Online Video Becomes the Preference for a Huge Audience

Revision3 CEO Jim Louderback will kick things off with an examination of the online video as it is, was, and will be. As he was integral in linking Revision3 with Discovery Communications, it comes as no surprise that this talk will underscore the growing influence of TV in the online video industry.

12:30 pm – Year of the YouTube Network: Roles Defined

While the overall growth of the online video has stagnated to a degree, multi-channel networks have experienced colossal growth over the past year. If you’re curious about any particular option, no look further; executives from Maker Studios, Alloy Digital, Big Frame, Awesomeness TV, and StyleHaul will pitch their services at this panel.

2:30 pm – Kickstarting your Strategy: Crowd-funding your Project in 2013

Kickstarter and Indiegogo are have reached a profoundly influential position, with Veronica Mars‘ multi-million dollar campaign drawing much attention. For smaller creators, it can still be an incredibly valuable resource, and the big names behind several successful projects, such as Hannah Hart and Jimmy Wong, will share their tips. Hopefully it’s not as simple as “be well known.”

4 pm – Creator’s Block: Getting Motivated and Staying Inspired

Any writer worth his or her salt can tell you how hard it is to consistently think up fresh ideas, which is why the regular brilliance of top online video creators is impressive. At this panel, you can learn how YouTubers like MysteryGuitarMan and Glozell keep things fresh. Also, this guy will be there! I love that guy.

Of course, Playlist Live wouldn’t be very exciting without live performances. On Saturday, performers will include YouTube musicians such as Mike Tompkins, Meghan Tonjes, and (because hey, why not?) Rebecca Black. Also, Toby Turner.

On Sunday, DeStorm and Chester See lead a second wave of talent.

What events are you excited for? Let us know in the comments. If you’re going to Playlist Live, have fun, and, if possible, try not to spend all your time at Disney World.
