CBS Debates Rock And Roll’s Toughest Questions In ‘Jukebox Jury’

You may think rock and roll is as simple as a cool band name and a couple power chords, but the folks at CBS Local disagree. The arm of CBS dealing with local networks has released Jukebox Jury, a web series that seeks to analyze rock music by having two experts debate a specific yes-or-no question.

Jukebox Jury doesn’t have one particular home, but it is being featured on several local CBS stations. In the first episode, Ace Frehley biographer John Ostrosky and touring musician Doug Vannoni debate whether there should be a mandatory age at which rockers are forced to retire or stop touring. In the end, it turns out that rock and roll fans don’t want rock and roll artists to be forced to stop touring. Shocker!

The guest judges in the first episode were the members of Sticky Fingers

, a Rolling Stones cover band who have been in the business for 35 years. However, host Steven Smith makes sure to inform the viewing public that any of us can apply to be a guest judge; if your into classic rock, you should go ahead and vet yourself so you can be considered for the honor.

CBS has begun to build an online video presence, and the music business is one place it is building its audience. The network’s Stageside Live series has brought viewers a candid look into the performances of modern rockers, but Jukebox Jury is reminding us that the all-time greats (even if they should be forced to stop touring) have not been forgotten.
