‘Finding My Obama’ Web Series Teaches Men How To Be More Presidential

Ladies, what are the qualities of your ideal man? Is he smart, well-spoken, and courageous? Does he hold a high-paying job? If you answered yes to these questions, you feel similarly to Nefetari Spencer, the lead actress in Finding My Obama, a new web series about meeting an idealistic man who–like the President–possesses the above qualities.

Finding My Obama is the brainchild of Antonia March and Jacqueline McKinley, two TV sitcom writers who clearly have had plenty of disappointment relationships with men. In each episode, Spencer (playing a fictionalize version of herself) comes into contact with a new selection of dudes, each one with his own set of unique problems. Some guys are too curt, others are too meek, and at least one is flat-out homeless.

Five episodes have been released so far on the show’s YouTube channel

. As of the most recent episode, which has reached five-digit views, the series is starting to gain a little momentum.

Finding My Obama is a dating advice show as much as it is a comedy. In many ways, it shares tonal similarities to Official Comedy’s We Should Break Up. As with that series, FMO seems to be saying, ‘hey, guys out there! We’re laughing with you but we’re also laughing at you. Please take our suggestions to heart.” Of course, We Should Break Up also features skepticism towards women. Will Finding My Obama eventually examine Spencer’s own high standards? If so, it would be a welcome twist. After all, there are very few Presidential men out there.
