Lewd Puppets Now Celebrating Christmas On Nerdist

If Nerdist keeps up its current trend, it’ll have to change its name to The Puppet Channel.

Chris Hardwick‘s YouTube Original has released a Yuletide video featuring the Miskreant Puppets, a hand-piloted sketch comedy group affiliated with Brian Henson‘s Henson Alternative subsection of the Jim Henson Company. In their official YouTube debut, the Miskreants present viewers with a foul, lewdly constructed rendition of ‘The 12 Days of Christmas‘.

In my mind, this is a clear improvement over the original song. While some of the new items such as drunken crabs or slapping hot dogs are purely nonsensical, it’s not like the original song made any sense to begin with. After all, what the heck is a ‘colly bird’? Why exactly are lords leaping? And what exactly is a partridge doing in a pear tree? The Miskreant Puppets understand that if a song is not going to make any sense, you might as well have some fun with it.

Of course, this is hardly the first time a Jim Henson Company property has appeared on Nerdist. The home of the legendary Muppets is one of the channel’s founding partners, and recent features have made that fact abundantly clear; in addition to showing up in several Nerdist music videos, Henson Company puppets are currently starring in the channel’s highest-profile scripted series, Neil Patrick Harris’ Neil’s Puppet Dreams.

If you ask me, Nerdist is moving away from its dorky roots and embracing its inner child. Is this a problem? Not at all, because the Muppets are awesome, and if you don’t think so, you’re wrong.
