Larry King To Host Debate For Third-Party Candidates On Ora TV

We’ve broken down the three Presidential debates (and one VP debate) in every which way. We’ve seen parodies of Obama and Romney, Ryan and Biden, and many more. But there are other people out there looking for your vote. They are the third-party candidates, and even though we’re not looking at a Bull Moose situation this time around, they have a lot they’d like to tell you. Despite their vigorous protests, they’ve been kept out of the mainstream Presidential debates. Now, Larry King is giving them the floor.

King will host a Presidential debate for third-party candidates, which will air October 23 at 8 PM EST on King’s ora.tv network. Four fringe choices will participate: Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party, Jill Stein of the Green Party, Virgil Goode of the Constitution Party, and Rocky Anderson of the Justice Party. These four candidates haven’t had much of a say in the recent discourse (that is, outside of Reddit), but they are certainly full of ideas. Viewers can tweet questions for the candidates by using the #AskEmThisLarry hashtag. Given the esoteric nature of some of these candidates, don’t be surprised if the questions are more unusual than in the mainstream debates

King has long been a champion for third-party candidates. In 1992, his interviews with Ross Perot helped popularize the Texas businessman. Perot would wind up having a major impact on two straight elections, taking many right-leaning voters away from George H.W. Bush and Bob Dole. Though none of these candidates have a chance at reaching Perot’s level of success this time around, Libertarianism seems to be gaining popularity (and it is Ron Swanson approved).

King’s election coverage on ora.tv has been nothing short of exhaustive. In addition to hosting live breakdowns after each convention, he has produced a ton of content as a featured partner of YouTube’s political hub. Another featured partner, Philip DeFranco, interviewed Gary Johnson as part of his coverage of the final Presidential debate. Go ahead and check it out. I gotta say, if we’re voting on the resonance of each candidate’s voice, Johnson is the clear winner.
