Here’s Your Chance To Receive A Walk-On Role In ‘Arrested Development’

If you don’t get around the Internet much, here’s a friendly reminder that Arrested Development is coming back for a fourth season on Netflix next year. And just in case you’ve forgotten, here are some links to jog your memory about the unparalleled brilliance of the show’s writing. I know that I would personally be beyond excited to be within five feet of Arrested Development‘s cast and crew, and if you would be too, you might just be able to accomplish that goal. Series creator Mitch Hurwitz announced that six fans will win walk-on roles in the series through the recently launched ‘You’re Gonna Get Some Walk-Ons‘ competition.

Fans are invited to shoot a video, take a picture, or tweet a Tweet that proves why they should be one of the lucky chosen few. The winners will be flown out to Los Angeles, where they will complete their fourth season acting role. I’d bet the fan cameos will include high levels of referential cleverness, especially since Arrested Development has a history of giving subtle nods to the origins of its actors. The contest was announced via a video posted to the NowOnNetflix channel, where Hurwitz gets an endorsement for the competition from the seemingly-always-timid-and-confused Michael Cera

The entries have already started pouring in; a new website, YoureGonnaGetSomeWalkOns.com (the name being a reference to the infamous stair car and its ‘hop ons’), has been created to showcase some of the better submissions. There have been references to Carl Weathers, plenty of frozen bananas, and at least one person who just blue herself. The winners will be chosen based on “creativity, distinctiveness and relevance to the show,” so the cast and producers will have plenty of leeway when sorting through what will surely be several thousand submissions.

Arrested Development will return in early 2013 with ten new episodes. The series will be one of Netflix’s flagship original programs along with the David Fincher-led House of Cards. If you can’t wait that long for some hot Bluth action, that the ‘You’re Gonna Get Some Walk-Ons’ contest is the perfect way to show how much you love the series. Good luck, and never forget that there’s always money in the banana stand.
